Warcraft III is a fully 3d RTS game following its high acclaimed pre decessor Warcraft II and I which both scored highly with various games magazines and web sites.

Warcraft III has moved to a 3d engine like most other RTS games and it has done so in style. The game engine runs smoothly on a simple 800Mhz GeForce 4 and works like a charm on my monster 1.7Ghz GeForce 4 computer.

Every character in Warcraft is beatifully detailed and modelled in full 3D. There are a diverse amounts of units as well, every character serves an important role in Warcraft so you won't ever get to the point where a certain unit is expendant.

The AI system is also very good. You will never see units break off from the main pac or get stuck behind trees which is a big problem in games like Starcraft and Warcraft II.

The game features a lengthy campaign which I have not even come close to finishing but it has a very good story and a cut scene between every mission which progresses the game along. One more aspect which Warcraft also towers over other RTS is its heroes. Even though other games such as Starcraft have heroes too Warcraft's main advantage is that your hero stays with you through the campaign. This means your hero will build up a lot of skills along the way and will be a bigger foe at the end.

If you ask me Warcraft III is definately your choice to buy. Even though I am not that much into RTS this game has definately changed me for the better and I can now see the joys of building up a huge base and attacking the enemy. Overall I give this game:

Rating: 5/5
