Road to Perdition follows the story of a gangster by the
name of Mike Sullivan and his son named Michael Jr.. His younger
son dies early in the movie ( shit sorry, that probably wrecks
the movie ) and Mike's wife Annie.
The movie is trying very hard to be pure gangster style and
it suceeds in some respects. The movie begins with Michael
Jr. talking about his dad then the movie shifts to Mike's
house which is followed by the family's trip to the main kingpin
of Mike's gang.
Everything that happens in the movie is slow, and I mean
real slow. Some people might appreciate the movie for that,
the fact that it doesn't say more then it needs to but the
problem with movies like this is that they make you go very
very sleepy.
Connor is the main bad guy of the movie. Mainly because he
is the son of kingpin Rooney and Rooney protects him no matter
what he does. After Mike's son sneaks into his car and witnesses
him killing people Connor decides that Mike's son can't be
trusted so he kills his wife and son and attempts to kill
Sullivan also. Sullivan and his son Michael manage to escape
and go on a long road trip to revenge.
The movie's characters are a varied bunch and most of them
are globe nominees or golden globe winners. Tom Hanks especially,
does a good for of being Mike and Michael Jr., who's played
by ( Tyler Hoechlin ) is also young talent that shows potential.
The worst about this movie I could think of is that it is
heavilly lacking action scenes. One might say that the story
doesn't need action scenes because it can support itself without
them but I think it's just plain boring to watch a slow movie
with nothing interesting in it.
