I
knew from the beginning I-SPY was going to be a mediocore
effort but upon arriving at the theatres I had a choice between
Chicago and this. And even though I have no doubts Chicago
is a great movie, musicals are not my style.
However
I-SPY managed to suprise me by actually providing quite a
few full belly laughs. Most remembarable being Eddie Murphy
( Robert Culp ), the black chick magnet boxer giving Owen
Wilson ( Alexander Scott ), the shy whining guy advice on
how to score with a chick, who is played by Famke Janssen
by the way, she's the girl from Don't Say a Word.
The
whole story is the most stereotypical spy movie genre type
story ever created. A stealth plane has been stolen from the
U.S military and it is Owen Wilson's character's job to recover
it. Owen is assisted by Eddie, a pro boxer as they both go
on a mission to take it from the ultimate bad ass bad guy
Gundar. Along the way the opposite personalities of the stars
finally manage to become friends and actually accomplish the
mission in the end.
Along
the way there is actually a pretty cool car chase scene with
some nice explsions and some cool gadgets. The movie is quite
short ( 1hr 37min ) but I give it 3 1/2 stars out of five.
Rating: 3.5/5
